Associate Veterinarian – Flexible Schedule Opportunity
Location: Crysler Animal Hospital, Independence, MO, with the option to also work at our sister hospital, AniMed Animal Hospital in Blue Springs, MO
Crysler & AniMed Animal Hospitals are growing, and we’re looking to add a full-time or part-time veterinarian to our team. Both hospitals are part of the same close-knit, KC-metro team of full-service companion animal general practices. This role is built around flexibility: full-time or part-time, at one location or split across both, on a schedule that works for you.
What to Expect:
- Compensation: Flexible compensation designed around what matters most to you and your desired schedule, including base salary, hourly, or ProSal options with no negative accrual
- Bonus: Sign-on bonus available, commensurate with experience and schedule preference
- Schedule: Flexible, full-time or part-time available. Work at one hospital or split time between both based on your preference. No on-call or after-hours responsibilities.
- Hours of Operation (Crysler): Monday–Friday 7:00am–6:00pm, Saturday 8:00am–12:00pm, closed Sunday

Job Responsibilities: As an Associate Veterinarian, you’ll be practicing general medicine and surgery, with confidence in procedures such as spay, neuter, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery. The role calls for strong communication skills, a compassionate approach with clients, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the rest of the care team.

Who We’re Looking For: We’re seeking a veterinarian who enjoys both the medical and surgical sides of practice. Because this role is built around flexibility, we welcome candidates across a range of experience levels and schedule needs — from a doctor seeking a traditional full-time role to one looking for a part-time schedule that fits around other commitments.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college
- Active Missouri veterinary license in good standing (or ability to obtain)
- Current DEA and MO BNDD License (or ability to obtain)
- Openness to a flexible schedule (full-time or part-time) across one or both hospital locations
DVM Student Externship / Preceptorship Program
Location: Crysler Animal Hospital, Independence, MO
We’re making an investment in the next generation of veterinary doctors. As part of the professional veterinary curriculum, colleges encourage off-campus educational experiences in practices outside of the teaching hospital. Practical experience in a well-run and contemporary practice can be a valuable component of veterinary education, preparing students to deliver better care after graduation. Our program is dedicated to contributing to practice-readiness and helping new graduates hit the ground running.
Program Structure: Externships are flexible – ranging from two to eight weeks during the year according to a student’s college curriculum, though they’re typically two or three weeks in length. The schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends. A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
Job Responsibilities: Externship rotations are designed to allow students, under veterinary supervision, to practice the problem-solving, technical, and communication skills acquired during clinical preparation. Externs are given the opportunity to work alongside our veterinary team and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of patient care. This includes gathering histories, performing physical examinations, developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans, scrubbing in to surgery, assisting in the management of medical cases, providing wellness care, developing client communication skills, polishing technical skills, and producing appropriate medical records (SOAPs) within the time limits of daily practice.
Who We’re Looking For: Extern students are expected to be enthusiastic and effective participants in patient care activities, upholding the professional and ethical standards of the practice. Students are expected to dress and behave professionally and meet the expectations outlined for all team members in the employee handbook.
Requirements:
- Enrolled in an accredited DVM program
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Must carry professional liability insurance (AVMA PLIT liability insurance is free for all student members of the AVMA)
About the Program: As sponsors of the Veterinary Externship Program, Crysler Animal Hospital sees itself as part of the students’ educational team, providing instruction, mentoring, and evaluation throughout the rotation. Each extern is assigned a mentor and works on learning objectives defined by their college program or specific personal goals. At the end of the externship, the mentor provides a written evaluation of the student’s performance as required by their college program.
